Imagine a seven year old saying to you “I've never seen colored paper before, and I've never, ever been allowed to choose what I want.”  Or how about a eight year old saying “See you never, you're white and white people never stay in Malabo long, you're just going to leave and it won't have made any difference”  Those were a couple of conversations we had with students in a primary school in Equatorial Guinea, West Africa.   

 Equatorial Guinea has one of the lowest school enrollment and completion rates in the world, with less than half of the children in the country completing primary school.  Although primary education is free and compulsory, families are required to provide uniforms and supplies.  On an island country where one pack of colored paper costs the equivalent of $40US, this is no easy task. 

Between the first graders who, without Simply Equal Education mentioning a school supply drive, offer to get their extra pencils out of their desks to donate, to the heartfelt thank yous from the schools in Equatorial Guinea, we believe that education and understanding is the true key to change.  

 Here's where you come in. As we continue to expand, the cost of helping children receive the education they deserve will continue rise.  We are asking you to make a tax deductible donation to help the future generations understand that they can make a difference in the world.  Your donation will help us continue to run our programs, as well as help us to purchase requested supplies that have not been donated.  Donations of school supplies are always welcome.

Simply Equal Education does not think of this project as a grand endeavor, but simply, the opportunity for an equal education for all.
