First of all, thank you for your continued support of Simply Equal Education and the work that we are doing to help young people in the United States understand their role as active agents of social change while working to ensure that children around the world have the tools and supplies they need to succeed in school. We wanted to tell you about a new program we are launching and a new chance for you to be involved!
SEE Me Read is a nationwide Read-a-thon to support Simply Equal Education and the work that we are doing. Students are invited to ask for pledges from their friends and family members. The students then record the time that they spend reading each day during the month of October. At the end of the month, the classroom with the highest amount of accumulated minutes will win an ice cream party! The students can count time that they spend reading or time that they spend listening to someone read aloud, as we continue to believe that no one is ever too young to make a difference!
Here's where you come in! We are asking donors to support our efforts in one (or more) of several ways. You can make a flat donation to the project (You chose the amount), you can sponsor a classroom that is participating ($150), or you can ask your family, friends and co-workers to donate (raise as much as you can). To make this a little sweeter for you (the kids are working to win an ice cream party) we are offering the person who donates/raises the most money a really cool, never before seen, piece of Simply Equal Education merchandise!!
All checks can be made out to Simply Equal Education and mailed to 568 College Parkway Rockville, MD 20850, or given directly to Amanda Malamut, Caitlin McGee or Nancy McGee. If you would rather make a donation on our website, please feel free to use our paypal account but send us a note so we can add the amount to your personal total! If you choose to sponsor a classroom, you have several options. If you know of a participating classroom and would like to sponsor them, send us a message and let us know. If you do not know of a participating classroom, just send us a message saying you would like to sponsor a classroom but need one assigned and we will send you the information about your class including the teacher's e-mail.
