Pre Escuela Mama Celina

Picture

Pre Escuela Mama Celina is located in Malabo, a five minute walk from where Amanda and Caitlin stayed in 2008.  The school serves about 300 students ages 2-12, with the 2-8 year olds attending school in the morning and the 9-12 year olds attending in the afternoon.  Each of the four classrooms has about 50 students at a time.

The local school in the mountain village of Moka, which caters to approximately 80 students, is a two classroom building with two teachers and an age range spanning from 5 to 14.  Caitlin and Amanda were part of a field research project in Moka with the Bioko Biodiversity Protection Program and had some interaction with students from the school at the field school.
